Where Kay stands on the issues that matter most to District 17.
Sumner County is growing fast. That growth brings opportunity — but also real challenges for our roads, schools, public safety, and the character of our neighborhoods. Kay Lokey's platform is grounded in 25 years of experience managing complex systems under pressure, with an unwavering commitment to the people she serves.
Responsible growth means planning for the future while protecting what we love about our community. Sumner County is one of the fastest-growing counties in Tennessee, and that growth must be managed thoughtfully — not just reacted to.
We can grow in a smart way that keeps our roads functional, our schools resourced, and our neighborhoods strong. That means making sure development pays its own way, that infrastructure keeps pace with population, and that the character of our communities is preserved for future generations.
After 25 years in law enforcement — including as Deputy Chief of Police for the Metro Nashville Police Department — Kay knows what it takes to keep communities safe. She has managed major departments, led officers through crisis situations, and built relationships across every level of public safety.
As your County Commissioner, Kay will stand firmly behind our local officers and first responders, advocate for the resources they need, and work to ensure that every family in every neighborhood across District 17 feels safe in their own home.
Kay will always stand up for your rights — including your First Amendment freedoms. You have the right to speak, to be heard, and to share your beliefs without fear. Those rights are not negotiable, and they deserve a champion on the County Commission.
As a career law enforcement officer, Kay has a deep respect for the Constitution and the freedoms it protects. She understands that good governance starts with listening to the people — and she will be accessible, transparent, and accountable to the residents of District 17.
